The Evo XTVs are the evolutionary new-generation wave boards. Their introduction in 2003 has made them the stuff of legends, revolutionizing wave board designs with their ability to maximize wave-riding performance in the widest variety of wind and wave conditions. Suitable for everyone from the pros to the progressing wave-sailor, an Evo makes the most of every ride with its ability to maintain speed on the wave face, flow through tight turns and project big aerials off the lip. With the new models now ranging up to 100 litres, the 2008 Evos extends the world of pure-waveriding to cover a wider spectrum of windsurfers of different ages, sizes and skill levels around the world.
What's new?
The Evo XTV 70 and 75 are all new shapes with wider tails and even more tail vee to push the balance between more radical performance and increased versatility. The Evo XTV 80, 90 and 62 continue unchanged for 2008 with designs that have extended the extreme end of performance without compromising all-round versatility.
The Evo XTV 100 is a new addition for 2008, developed with Antoine Albeau who's a pretty big person at 97kg.
Summary:

- Suitable for experts and progressing waveriders alike
- New more radical and versatile 70 and 75 shapes
- New XL 100 litre model
- Dur-X construction and heel bumpers standard on all Wood and Technora models
Suitable sail types are sideshore wave, onshore wave and crossover sails.
Compared to the Pure Acids, the Evo XTV boards are more 'evolutionary': they offer a wider range of performance by making the most of all conditions. They have a more flowing riding style with a better ability at carrying speed on smaller waves and through tight turns. Carrying more speed on smaller waves and having wider outlines make for big aerials and the overall waveriding sensation steps up to a higher level. The Pure Acids would be more suitable for those looking for a classic rail biting, hard-edged style of fast and aggressive waveriding.
Compared to the Kombat range, the Evos are more dedicated to pure waveriding without any performance compromise towards freestyling or freeriding. The Kombats are one-board crossover solutions for freestyling, fl at-water blasting and waveriding. They would be more suitable for radical sailors who do not only wave-ride, but also enjoy freeriding and freestyling in a variety of conditions.
Dur-X Construction: Dur-X is the strongest construction available from Starboard. Carbon, Carbon-Kevlar and Technora reinforcement patches are all oversized to cover all stress concentration points (footstrap inserts for example). The reinforcements are angled at 45 degrees to further reduce stress concentration. Extra rail-bands are laminated over the seam after moulding and more oversized rail-bands are laminated to the back half to further strengthen the board against heel dings, rail splits and total breakage. Heel bumpers are featured in all Dur-X models. The Starboard Dur-X warranty rate: a record setting 1.03%
